How to connect your iPad to your Brother printer to print ID badges with Space Connect VMS App

You can print ID badges with our system by connecting the iPad you use for VMS app to a Brother Printer.

Please note these instructions relate to the Brother QL-820NWB, other QL brother printers should work in a similar way.

Firstly, please ensure you have the latest Space Connect VMS app on your iPad and logged in successfully. You can see how to do this here.

You must also ensure you have enabled badge printing, you can see how to do this here.

Once the above is all set and ready to go you need to connect your printer to your iPad.

Check your printer is connected to your wifi network. Your printer and iPad will need to be on the same Wi-Fi network in order to find each other.

If your printer is not yet connected to your Wi-Fi. Turn the printer on, and follow the on-screen prompts to set the language, time and date.

Press the [Menu] button and the [▼] button to select the [WLAN] menu, and then press the [OK] button.

Press the [▼] button to select WLAN On/Off, and press the [OK] button.

Use the [▲] and [▼] buttons to select [On] and press the [OK] button to enable.

Once enabled, press the [↩] button and within the [WLAN] menu select WLAN > Infra Manual Setting and press the [OK] button.

The printer should then search for available Wi-Fi networks. Use the [▲] and [▼] buttons, select your preferred Wi-Fi network and then press the [OK] button.

Enter your password using the [▲] and [▼] buttons to select the correct characters.

*Please note: you can select the [Menu] button to change the keyboard to input symbols, numbers, uppercase, and lowercase characters.

The screen should then display 'Connected!' to confirm this was successful. Press the [↩] button to make your way back to the main screen and confirm the Wi-Fi symbol shows solid in the top right corner of the screen.

Once your Brother printer is online it's time to do a test visit to select the printer to print to.

Go to your Space Connect VMS app and select Visitor and fill in the details.

Once all the information it will find the printers on the same Wi-Fi network and ask you which one you want to use.

Select the printer you wish to use and then the label should print out.

Once this is done as long as the printer remains on and the app is logged in then it will automatically use this printer to print from.
